Get to Know Dr. Candrice
Dr. Candrice R. Heath most recently served as Assistant Professor of Dermatology, Director of Pediatric Dermatology, and the inaugural Office of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Physician Faculty Scholar at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University. Dr. Heath is a Clinical Assistant Professor (Adjunct) faculty member in the Center for Urban Bioethics at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University. She sees both children and adults, is highly respected, and triple board-certified in Dermatology, Pediatrics and Pediatric Dermatology.
She received her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and medical degree from the University of Virginia. Dr. Heath completed pediatric residency at Emory University and then completed two dermatology clinical research fellowships while working as a pediatrician. She went on to complete her dermatology residency at Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s-Roosevelt in New York City followed by a pediatric dermatology fellowship at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Heath is a nationally recognized speaker, pediatric and adult dermatology clinical researcher and has held a variety of leadership roles including Chair for the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) Skin of Color and Pigmentary Disorders Focus Group, Vice Chair for Research in the Temple University Dermatology Department, Skin of Color Society National Secretary-Treasurer, and American Academy of Dermatology Diversity Committee member. She is also the recipient of a 2022 Career Development Award, the Robert A. Winn Diversity in Clinical Trials Award, established by the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation and the Skin of Color Society funded her research pediatric and adolescent scarring alopecia with a 2023 Career Development Award.
Some of Dr. Heath’s interests include atopic dermatitis, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, traction alopecia, dermatology health equity, and patient-centered culturally sensitive communication. Her clinical, research, and teaching interests are shaped by insights gained from her unique practice filled with both children and adults in addition to her passion for exploring the intersection of dermatology and social science.
Dr. Heath has published several scientific journal articles, been invited to speak widely, appeared in media, and spends countless hours mentoring and creating far reaching educational initiatives positively impacting both learners and patients. She loves being a dermatologist and her passion for patients exudes from her soul. Yet, she often reminds her social media supporters, patients, and colleagues that regardless of how busy you are, we all deserve to be at the top of our to-do lists.
